Zulu names new head of strategy

Zulu Alpha Kilo has appointed a new head of strategy, promoting Ebrahim El Kalza into the role.

El Kalza joined the shop back in 2012 as its strategic planning director to work on accounts such as Corona, Audi and Workopolis.

“Ebrahim has been a senior leader at Zulu since he joined and he’s been instrumental to the success of the creative work we’ve done for our clients over that time,” said Mike Sutton, president, Zulu Alpha Kilo, in a release. “He’s also led the charge on building a robust research practice that is at the core of our brand transformation offering.”

El Kalza takes over from Shari Walczak, who left the agency at the end of 2014 to pursue an entrepreneurial opportunity.

News of the promotion comes on the heels of a new branded content division at Zulu, launched in December, with the goal of creating original programming. The shop also recently promoted art director Shawn James and copywriter Sean Atkinson into the roles of ACDs and brought on board Omar Morson as its new design director.

Prior to joining Zulu, El Kalza worked at Sid Lee as strategy director.
