Jean Coutu picks Havas for digital

Jean Coutu Group has selected Havas Worldwide Canada to handle all of its digital initiatives for its stores going forward.

This is the first new business win for Havas since it restructured and announced a new leadership team in December.

Havas will maintain pre-exisiting digital platforms, create new content and manage Jean Coutu’s social platforms. The agency has also begun working on several major projects that will be rolled out over the rest of the year that directly address changing consumer behaviour, according to a release. Havas will also handle digital media buying. Jean Coutu’s digital work was previously handled by Nurun.

“We wanted a new agency that would accompany us strategically and help us to continue our digital shift, which began more than two years ago. We’ve selected Havas Worldwide Canada for their digital expertise and their ability to develop a 360-degree vision centred on the Jean Coutu brand and user experience,” Hélène Bisson, VP of communications for Jean Coutu Group, said in the release.

As a result of that digital shift, all of Jean Coutu’s marketing activities at this time are digital, and it’s not working with another agency on any traditional marketing.

The Jean Coutu Group operates 416 franchised locations under the PJC Jean Coutu, PJC Clinique, PJC Sante and PJC Sante Beaute brands. Most of the stores are located in Quebec, although there are locations in New Brunswick and Ontario as well.

More to come.
