Revenues, profit up at WPP in 2014

Holding company WPP has reported a 9.9% jump in revenue for 2014 to US$18.96 billion, from US$17.25 billion the previous year.

WPP includes more than 40 companies operating in Canada, including Taxi, Blue Hive, Cohn & Wolfe, Grey, Hill+Knowlton Strategies and Ogilvy. Last year, the group picked up the Cannes Lions for most creative holding company for the fourth year in a row.

Profit for the group last year was US$1.87 billion, up 16.7% year-over-year from $1.6 billion. Reported billings were up to $75.94 billion from $72.34 billion in 2013. Net new business at year-end totalled US$9.33 billion.

Advertising and media investment management was the largest contributor to revenues in 2014, followed by its branding and identity, healthcare and specialist communications segment.

For this year, the company says it will be focusing on revenue growth in “faster growing geographic markets and digital” and “strategically targeted acquisitions” along with gaining new business.
