Long-time Sun Life Financial executive Mary De Paoli has taken a new position at RBC as EVP and chief marketing officer.
Currently Sun Life’s EVP of public and corporate affairs and CMO, De Paoli will take on the newly-created role at RBC on May 11. She will replace Jane Broderick, chief brand and communication officer, who plans to retire at the end of the year.
In the new role, she will be responsible for brand, communications and corporate citizenship at RBC. She will also be accountable for personal and commercial banking marketing, which previously fell under Neil McLaughlin, who recently became EVP of business financial services.
In addition to that, she will be responsible for developing RBC’s global brand strategies and marketing sponsorships, including for the Olympics, and will also lead corporate communications, which includes media relations, employee communications and social media. In personal and commercial banking, she will lead the groups responsible for customer insights and loyalty, marketing, sponsorships and advertising.
Working at Sun Life since 1999, De Paoli first led the company’s group retirement services division. In 2007, she was named SVP of corporate brand and marketing, and in 2011, was appointed to her current role.
De Paoli was also named strategy‘s Marketer of the Year in 2012.
