As Canadians gear up for “skinny basic” cable packages with pick-and-pay channels next year, Telus is touting the control its Optik TV packages provides to customers.
A new “Call the Shots” video spot, created by The&Partnership, shows a couple overwhelmed by unwanted visitors in their home – everything from an alien to Elizabeth I – when they suddenly remember they aren’t paying for all this content after all.

Optik TV is currently available in Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec and includes pre-built theme packs of channels and a build-your-own offering.
The new ad is part of Telus’ “Expect More” platform, which launched earlier this summer and is centred on customer satisfaction.
The telco also recently launched a series called “The Secret Life of Phones,” documenting the real things your smartphone is thinking behind your back, to push its “Telus Learning Centres.”
