Cannes names 2016 jury presidents

The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity has announced the jury presidents for the 2016 event, including those for Lions Health, Lions Innovation and Lions Entertainment, and a pair of Canadians will lead juries for the first time.

John Clinton, chair of Edelman Canada and North American head of creative and content, has been named president of the PR jury, while Tom Eymundson, CEO and director at commercial audio production company Pirate, has been named president of the Radio jury.

The pair are the third and fourth Canadians to be named jury presidents at Cannes, following Leo Burnett Toronto CEO and CCO Judy John leading the Direct jury last year and Taxi CCO Paul Lavoie leading the Film jury in 2009. This will also mark the first time two Canadians have served as jury presidents in the same year.

When it comes to Cannes holding to its commitment to gender diversity on juries, six women will sit as jury presidents, up from five in 2015, although the addition of several new juries this year has allowed the number of men serving as jury presidents to go up as well, from 14 to 17.
