Rethink, FCB, BBDO big winners at Clio Sports

A number of Canadian agencies were breaking out the celebration dances after wins at last night’s Clio Sports awards.

Rethink took home a Gold in Design for “The Fantasy Life” campaign for Coors Light. To reach fantasy football fans who take the game very seriously, the brand made a number of gestures to people who talked about their fantasy leagues using “#TheFantasyLife,” making it seem as important as they think it is. Fans with the best team names – like “Turn Your Head and Coughlin” or “Dez Does Dallas” – had logos made by professional designers, with some receiving a helmet with the logo on the side. People with ideas for league trophies had them 3D-printed so they could be given to the winner at the end of the season. And people who tried and failed to effectively trash talk were given arm bands – similar to those quarterbacks use to remember plays – that had better lines to use the next time they needed to talk smack.

The agency’s award count was helped by another Molson Coors client, as Molson Canadian’s “Rooftop Rink” won two Silver and two Bronze. Rethink’s “Stamkos vs. Drones” video for Sport Chek also won a Bronze.

BBDO Toronto took home five awards for its “#Paratough” campaign for the Canadian Paralympic Committee.

The other Gold winner was FCB Toronto, which won in Design for BMO’s “NBATM” to commemorate this year’s NBA All-Star Game in Toronto. The activation also took Silver in Out-Of-Home.

A total of nine Canadian agencies and companies won 19 awards at the show. The full list of winners is below.
