Cheerios go gluten-free
Following the move in the U.S., General Mills says cheerio to wheat, rye and barley in its whole oats supply for the market here.

Following their introduction in the U.S. last summer, General Mills has brought gluten-free Cheerios to Canada.
Rolling out here this summer, five Cheerios products are going gluten-free, including its original flavour, Honey Nut Cheerios, Multi-Grain Cheerios, Apple Cinnamon Cheerios and Chocolate Cheerios.
General Mills developed a process to remove the wheat, rye and barley from its supply of whole oats to meet Health Canada’s requirements and standards for gluten-free products, and all the Cheerios products will now be marked with “gluten-free” on the front of their packaging.
Outside of Cheerios, General Mills also offers gluten-free Rice Chex, Chex Honey Nut and Cinnamon Chex, with Chocolate Chex launching in Canada this summer.
