Will Creative partners with HSBC Canada Sevens

The Vancouver agency will promote the Canadian leg of the international rugby tournament.

Vancouver’s Will Creative has won the assignment for the HSBC Canada Sevens rugby tournament.

Working alongside sponsorship agency Torque Strategies, Will has been tasked with the campaigns to promote the next tournaments in 2017. The men’s tournament takes place in Vancouver in March, with the women’s tournament set for May in Victoria and Langford.

HSBC Canada Sevens is the Canadian leg of the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series, an annual circuit of two-day rugby sevens tournaments played in 10 different host countries. The World Rugby Sevens Series was established in 1999, with HSBC becoming the title sponsor in 2010. The women’s series was added in 2012.

The tournaments are expected to feature 16 men’s teams and 12 women’s teams from around the world.

Excitement around rugby sevens – a faster-paced version of traditional 15-player rugby – could grow in Canada after the women’s team won a bronze medal in Rio, the first time the sport was contested at the Olympics.

Will, which launched in late 2014, has other sports-focused clients including Canadian Freestyle Skiing, Canadian Association of Snowboard Instructors and Lululemon.
