Canadian agencies win 14 Clios

It’s a Bronze wave for Canada at this year’s Clio Awards.

The winners of the awards – as well as the off-shoot Clios Music and Clios Fashion & Beauty – were announced yesterday. The trophies will be given out at a gala in New York later this month, where the Grand Clio winners will also be named.

Four Canadian agencies won a combined 13 Bronze awards, though one managed to pull ahead of the pack with one Silver win.

Toronto’s The Hive won Canada’s lone Silver in Clios Music in the Digital and Mobile category for “Play a Coke,” its interactive contribution to this summer’s “Share a Coke” campaign from Coca-Cola. The campaign also picked up a pair of Bronze awards, one in Innovation and the other in Partnerships.

Rethink, Lg2 and Cossette each picked up three Bronze Clios, with the former two adding to their hauls from Clios Sports in July. Jam3 also won a pair of Bronze Clio trophies for its work with MTV on a campaign promoting last year’s VMAs.

The “Out There” campaign created by CAA Marketing in Los Angeles won a Silver in Clios Fashion & Beauty, as well as a Bronze in the main show for Branded Content. Though not led by a Canadian agency, there is a home connection in that the campaign was for brand Canada Goose.
