HBC gets a CMO

HBC has a new top marketer, naming Milton Pappas as its chief marketing officer, a newly created role.

Pappas will lead the retail giant’s “Marketing Centre of Excellence,” which encompasses marketing strategy across HBC’s North American businesses. Those banners include Hudson’s Bay, Lord & Taylor, Saks Fifth Avenue, Gilt and Saks Off 5th.

The “Centre of Excellence” was created earlier this year to centralize HBC’s marketing development. an in-house agency that supports the execution of each retail business’ marketing strategy and campaigns. It contributes to marketing creative, media, partnerships and events, among other areas.

Pappas joined HBC in September 2016 as SVP, digital marketing and has served as interim CMO since June 2017.

Prior to joining HBC from New York & Company, where he was chief digital officer, he held senior roles in marketing, digital and e-commerce with Nine West Group, Toys “R” Us and Redcats USA. He also serves as a board member of Shop.org, the National Retail Federation’s’ digital division.
