Farm Boy grows with 10 new locations

Grocery banner Farm Boy is expanding to ten new Ontario locations, the company announced this week. The new stores will contain a mix of urban and suburban locations and range in format from 12,000 to 38,000 square feet and will include a selection of farm-fresh foods, on-the-go meals and private label specialty products. The stores will continue to offer a broad selection of locally made, organic, and plant-based foods, according to a company release.

In the GTA, Farm Boy will expand to include locations in Newmarket and downtown and midtown Toronto. In the Niagara region, the grocer will open its first store in St. Catherines. Farm Boy’s presence in its Ottawa home will grow to include new locations downtown and at the Ottawa Train Yards. In addition to those in Burlington, the 10 new stores will bring the total Farm Boy Ontario store count to 37.

Beyond Meat brings Beyond Beef to Canada

Starting today, Beyond Meat will begin to offer its Beyond Beef products in Canada, the first market outside of the U.S. The product, made from what the brand describes as “simple, plant-based ingredients without GMOs, soy or gluten,” is being released because of what founder and CEO Ethan Brown calls a “tremendous response from Canadians who are interested in our plant-based proteins.”

This past summer, Beyond Meat entered the Canadian retail market with the launch of the Beyond Burger and in less than six months, distribution grew to more than 4,000 stores.
