In a high-inflation environment, Canadians are more trusting of companies that help them save.
That’s according to this year’s edition of the Reader’s Digest Trusted Brands survey, conducted with Ipsos. This year’s edition polled 4,002 Canadian adults to find not just which brands they trust, but the biggest factors that contribute.
The survey found 81% of respondents are more trusting of brands that help them save money, while 87% continue to purchase from brands they trust more.
Reader’s Digest’s survey also revealed winners of its Trusted Brand designation across 35 product and service categories. To be crowned within its category, a brand must receive a statistically significantly higher number of mentions than any other in that category in open-ended questions. Among the interesting designations was Behr joining the ranks of Platinum brands, which have won in their category for 10 or more years. The brand received its platinum designation in the Interior Paint category, while it has Gold designations (winning for between five and nine years) in the Exterior Stain and Exterior Paint categories.
Other brands that maintained their Platinum status this year are Toyota, Tylenol, Coppertone and Sun Life. However, Shoppers Drug Mart is no longer in the tier, as the Pharmacy/Drug Store category was not included in the survey this year. Brands in the Gold tier included Aveeno, Depend, Purina, Sephora, Tetley and Weber.
