Fuse promotes two to SVP

Fuse Create has promoted added SVP duties to the roles of managing director Aleena Mazhar and ECD Steve Miller.

“As the founders of the agency, we’re aware that our future success relies more and more on the incredible talent we attract to join our family,” said Fuse Create CEO Stephen Brown of the pair, who were already partners in the agency. “Aleena and Steve have continually demonstrated the values that allow us to ‘turn heads’, build a great culture, foster strong client relationships, and steer this company in the right direction.”

Mazhar was hired by Fuse in 2015 as a senior director on its client service team; she was named managing director in 2020. Miller joined Fuse in 2019 as its first ECD, coming off of 14 years at OneMethod.

Sandra Gage is no longer Canada Soccer’s CMO

Canada Soccer has announced the departure of its head marketer, Sandra Gage.

The organization, which governs the sport in Canada and oversees its national teams, said a search for a new chief commercial officer to fill Gage’s duties is underway. It did not provide further details, as it does not comment on personnel matters.

Gage was hired as CMO at Canada Soccer in 2009, coming off of head marketer roles with the 2015 Women’s World Cup and FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup. During her time with Canada Soccer, in addition to providing support for the men’s national team during the 2022 World Cup, Gage was also a member of the 2026 United Bid Committee that secured hosting duties for the 2026 men’s World Cup.

Key Gordon names new VP of advocacy

Advertising and design agency Key Gordon Communications has brought on Jonathan Scott as its new VP of advocacy.

Grant Gordon, president and CD, says expanding its advocacy work its a priority for the agency. “We’ve done some of our most provocative work creating advocacy campaigns, and we want to do more of it.”

Scott is a former director of communications for the Ontario government caucus and a municipal councilor. He has also worked with a wide range of clients including the Canadian Generic Pharmaceutical Association, the Canola Council of Canada, Toronto Public Health, CivicAction, and Georgian Bay Forever.
