Ed Sheeran is dropping something hot – but this time, it’s not a new single.
In collaboration with CPG giant Kraft Heinz, the English singer-songwriter has released a new line of hot sauce that borrows his childhood nickname: Tingly Ted’s. The sauce is part of the brand’s “Taste Elevation” platform, which has also seen Kraft Heinz delving into other innovative areas in recent years, such as hazelnut spreads.
This is not the first time Sheeran and the brand have collaborated. Last year, for its 150th anniversary, Heinz released “Edchup” – a Sheeran-branded version of its ketchup – to the musician’s home market in the U.K. It’s also not the brand’s first foray into hot sauces. However, the effort is part of a deliberate strategy at Kraft Heinz to expand its offering and innovate through new collaborations with tech brands and recognizable faces like Sheeran.
“It’s rare to find someone who is as passionate about sauces as we are, and it’s no secret Ed is already one of the biggest Heanz Tomato Ketchup fans you can find,” explains Rafael Oliveira, EVP and president for international markets at Kraft Heinz. “When we heard he wanted to make his own hot sauce, we of course wanted in.”
Tingly Ted’s is available to pre-order now and is launching both in Canada and internationally this year. It will be available in two spice levels, “Tingly” and “Xtra Tingly.”
