Bowmore and Aston Martin celebrate craft with scotch

A new collaboration between whisky maker Bowmore and luxury automaker Aston Martin will have a limited release in Canada, once more celebrating the tradition of the master craftsmen behind the two brands.

Called the Bowmore Masters’ Selection Aston Martin 22 Year Old, the collaboration brings together “one of the most iconic single malt scotches not only on Islay but in all of Scotland” with “one of the most iconic cars in Hollywood history and one of the most luxurious cars in the U.K.,” says James Neil, luxury brand ambassador at Bowmore owner Beam Suntory.

“What we’ve done with Bowmore and the Aston Martin collaboration, to be very honest, doesn’t need to be advertised a lot,” says Neil. “It’s almost a self-advertised product, because of our constant engagement – whether through social media or at events. We’re hosting dinners and private tastings and really getting the brand out there in front of people, telling the stories of Aston Martin and Bowmore.”

This is the third pairing between the two brands, following last year’s Masters’ Selection 21 Year Old release and the Black Bowmore DB5 – an extremely limited and highly collectible release of the brand’s 1964 Black Bowmore liquid bottled in Aston Martin DB5 pistons. The brands first came together over a mutual desire to celebrate “the quality craftsmanship and attention to detail” they share, Neil says.

Releases through the collaboration have consistently been limited edition collectibles, and this one is no different. Only 9,000 bottles were produced globally, and Ontario will be seeing its release “probably in May or June,” says Neil. “When this product hits shelves, it will likely only be on them for about 24 hours,” Neil claims.

The beverage has already been released in other provinces, including the East Coast and B.C., and has had “instant success,” according to Neil.

“When you have two brands like Aston Martin and Bowmore coming together, the collaborative power makes it a very rare and collectible piece,” he explains. “And any tasting I’ve done with the liquid, it has been a standout in our collection. I’ve tasted a lot of our single malts over the years and this one is absolutely stunning. It’s exactly what I expect and want from a Bowmore.”
