Angry Butterfly has made a wave of new additions to accommodate some key business wins, including hiring two new creative directors.
Bernice Lo and Adam Notzl-Keyser join the agency as VP and creative directors, making the move from Dentsu, where they had spent more than three years (initially with creative agency Grip before it was folded into Dentsu Creative last year). The pair had also worked together at Publicis, prior to which Lo has experience at Arrivals + Departures and Taxi, while Notzl-Keyser had worked at Tribal.
In their new roles at Angry Butterfly, they will work alongside CCO Erin Kawalecki, leading key projects and accounts while also assisting with oversight of the growing creative team.
The creative team has also recently hired ACD Ryan Chiasson and promoted Chenice Piercy to the same role. It has also added Emily Fixman as art director, Olivia Wrobel as junior copywriter, and Jan Benavente as junior art director.
“Bernice and Adam have that special blend of talent, kindness and maturity that is so hard to find,” says Kawalecki. “I could not be more excited to have them join us, to help guide our amazing creative department and to elevate the work across the board.”
Angry Butterfly has made a number of other additions across its other teams, as well.
The agency’s account services team has added Nipun Goomer as VP and group account director and Madelaine Lemoine as account director. Goomer joins from Diamond, where he led the TD brand and sponsorship vertical, and has also held senior roles at Publicis, TBWA and Lowe Worldwide in India. Lemoine, meanwhile, brings international experience from France where she had worked at Publicis and Uzik, and will work to support Angry Butterfly’s expanding French language requirements.
“We look for a certain type of account leadership at Angry Butterfly – those with strong strategic thinking, a thorough understanding of the modern marketing landscape and how to lead within it, as well as a love for creative,” says Graham Candy, chief strategy officer at the agency. “Nipun and Madeline both have this unique combination and we are grateful to have them on the team.”
In addition to those hires, Angry Butterfly has added Shubham Vijan as data analyst and media buyer, Ella Leach as influencer coordinator and Charmaine Easton as finance manager. Easton had consulted in that role with the agency since its launch in 2021 and has now joined full time.
The additions bring the agency’s headcount to 40 people. Angry Butterfly’s leadership could not yet disclose the new business wins that sparked the wave of hires.
“We hire for attitude first, closely followed by skill set,” says Kawalecki. “This group of people is capable not only of thinking at the highest level, but of bringing almost anything to life in a seamless way – it’s talent combined with the willingness to try anything, which is a very special thing.”
