The Winnipeg Sea Bears, the newest team in the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL), are announcing loud and clear that Winnipeg is an ideal city to call home.
The team’s launch campaign centres on an anthemic spot developed with its AOR, Winnipeg-based creative shop Brandish Agency, that will run on social and in places across the city.
Featuring “All In,” a song from local hip-hop artist Anthony OKS, the 45-second video celebrates the city’s history in the sport, as well as its wellspring of young talent – and, of course, urges Winnipeggers to turn out for the Sea Bears’ first game against the Vancouver Bandits on their home court at the Canada Life Centre on May 27.
“This is an exciting time to be a basketball fan in Winnipeg. The CEBL coming to Manitoba signals the next phase of our growing basketball community,” says Alexandra Martin, partner and director of brand at the agency. “We wanted this campaign to invite shared ownership of the team, to excite our talented basketball community and to encourage them to be a part of the Sea Bears from the beginning – ‘Day One.'”
Alongside the launch of the campaign, the Sea Bears will be releasing an exclusive merchandise line in the summer. Brandish collaborated with the team itself and Enjoy Creative, a Winnipeg-based production company, on the effort.
