The first day of the 2023 Cannes Lions brought with it a chance Canadian for agencies to deliver on the wealth of nominations they’ve already picked up this year.
Rethink, BBDO and Ogilvy won a Gold Lion each at Monday’s gala, which were among the 16 won by Canadian agencies across the Pharma, Health & Wellness, Outdoor, Print & Publishing and Radio & Audio categories.
Meanwhile, Klick’s nominations and wins in the health-related categories led it to earn a spot as both the second-highest ranked health agency and agency network.
This morning, shortlists were released for some of Cannes’ most strategic and results-focused categories, with Canadian campaigns landing nominations in Creative Effectiveness, Creative Commerce, Creative Strategy and Mobile (there wasn’t any Canadian work on the competitive Creative Business Transformation shortlist). But it was also a day for one of its most creative, with four campaigns in the running for Film Lions.
Tuesday’s gala will award Lions in the Craft, Entertainment and Design categories. Between the eight categories, Canadian campaigns have earned 57 shortlist spots.
