McCann names new production lead
McCann Canada has hired Stef Fabich as its SVP and head of production.
Fabich will be responsible for leading McCann’s creative production team, as well as collaborating with the team at Craft both in Canada and across the McCann network on programs for the agency’s suite of clients, including GM, Wendy’s, L’Oréal, Mastercard and Bayer. He will further McCann’s focus on sustainable production practices, diversity in front of and behind the camera and digital-first content creation.
Fabich joins McCann Canada from Notch Video, where he led integration for Publicis Groupe, creating and shooting social campaigns for Leo Burnett and Publicis Toronto. Prior to Notch, he spent five years at FCB Canada as director of integrated production.
Taxi hires new head of production
Janice Bisson is joining Taxi as the agency’s national head of production.
Bisson is a former head of production for Anomaly, where she led a team of 27 integrated producers across all disciplines. In addition, she built a team at Anomaly’s in-house post and production company, including a makers’ studio.
IDEA makes a call for entries
The 2023 IDEA (Inclusivity, Diversity and Equity in Advertising) competition from the Institute of Canadian Agencies (ICA), in partnership with Bell Media, is calling for brands and agencies to enter for the chance to win $1 million worth of media inventory on Bell Media platforms.
In this, the third year of the competition, national and international for-profit brands and associated agencies are invited to submit work that celebrates diversity through advertising. This year’s entries must shine a spotlight on the lived realities of newcomers to Canada.
Creators of the winning entry will have access to the full range of Bell Media’s platforms – TV, radio, out-of-home, and digital – to execute their $1 million campaign in 2023 and 2024. Submissions close on Sept. 8.
Sid Lee names new VP of growth and innovation
Justin Furman is joining Sid Lee as VP of growth and innovation.
Furman is formerly director, business development and marketing at EssenceMediacom. Prior to joining the agency last year, Furman spent about three years as director, marketing communications and new business at Cossette.
Plus Company hires Karine Courtemanche as Axel Dumont departs
Karine Courtemanche has been hired as EVP of Plus Company Canada and president of the media group, a role that will also have her contributing to growth and collaboration across the company’s agencies. In addition to leading the company’s media group – which includes agencies Cossette Media and Jungle Media – Courtemanche will work with Mélanie Dunn, president of Plus Company Canada, on “evolving the entire portfolio.” The new role is effective beginning in July.
The hiring comes as Cossette Media president Axel Dumont leaves . He stepped into his national role as president during the pandemic. In a lengthy LinkedIn post, Dumont says he learned that prioritizing doing the right thing and putting people first is a “super effective” way to drive results. Before taking the helm at Cossette’s media division, Dumont was president of Group M for a period of about 3.5 years.
