The Body Shop comes to Shoppers Drug Mart

The Body Shop is making its products available outside of its own stores for the first time as it launches in Shoppers Drug Mart.

An assortment of Body Shop bath, body, hair and skin care products from its most popular product lines will be available at 25 Shoppers Drug Mart locations and online, with an additional 25 stores picking up the products by early October. More stores will be added in 2024.

This move marks The Body Shop’s first expansion beyond its 110 retail locations in Canada.

“We are so proud to be partnering with Shoppers Drug Mart, one of the most recognized and trusted names in Canadian retailing, to make shopping for our products as convenient as possible,” says Hilary Lloyd, VP of brand and activism at The Body Shop North America. “As a leader in change-making beauty, we prioritize positive change for the planet and the communities we source our ingredients from. According to Lloyd, the expansion will allow it to further grow its mission and impact by making products more accessible.

Gwennaëlle Varnier, VP of prestige beauty at Shoppers Drug Mart, says The Body Shop aligns with a trend it has been seeing in body care purchases, as well as the retailer’s strategy to have the widest assortment of beauty products. She adds that The Body Shop’s ethically sourced and sustainably made products are “important to us as a purpose-led retailer.”

The Body Shop has been leaning into its activist roots to bring people into its stores, whether it be the launch of a new flagship hosting “changemaker workshops,” lobbying the federal governemt to move election day to a weekend to boost voter turnout or stepping up its Pride activites in a year when rising anti-2SLGBTQ+ rhetoric made other brands more cautious with their support.
