Adam Thur joins Blackjet as executive creative director

Blackjet has named Adam Thur as executive creative director.

Thur will join the brand strategy and business growth consultancy’s senior leadership team and take responsibility for managing the company’s group creative resources.

At Blackjet, Thur will lead the group’s creative teams and be responsible for further elevating the group’s creative profile, nurturing emerging talent and leading new business. He takes up a new role in the organization, reporting to CEO Rob Galletta.

“His innovative ideas and attention to craft have rightly earned him armfuls of awards including Cannes Lions, One Show Pencils and Effies,” Galletta says. “We’re particularly excited by his passion for the potential of tech, data, and AI to transform brand storytelling.”

Thur joins Blackjet from DDB Canada, where he was co-executive creative director leading creative nationally, and where his duties included maintaining creative standards across Canada, representing the agency on a global level, and inspiring and supporting creative staff at all levels.

Prior to DDB Thur was ECD at Union Creative for nearly eight years, working on key clients like Wonder Bread, Best Buy, and Jamieson Vitamins. Thur has also had stints at Leo Burnett and Juniper Park, having started his career at Lowe Roche in 2005.

Thur is an accomplished creative leader and award-winning art director who has chalked up a list of credits for clients like Dairy Farmers of Canada, IKEA, EQ Bank, Audi, Holt Renfrew and Best Buy Canada.

Most recently Thur led the team that saw DDB Canada shortlisted for Strategy Magazine’s 2023 Design Agency Of The Year.

Thur joins at the end of October and is the latest in a string of senior hires made by Blackjet on the back of a successful run of new business wins. In the last 12 months Blackjet has added Onlia Insurance, Gay Lea Foods, Japan National Tourism Organization and NHLPA to its client roster.

Earlier this year Blackjet also acquired shopper agency Spider Marketing, which provides retail marketing services to clients like Kruger and Canadian Tire.
