TBWA\Media Arts Lab names two ACDs

Derek Silveira and Jason Lee are starting new positions as associate creative directors at TBWA\Media Arts Lab as of October.

Silveira previously held an associate creative director role at Juniper Park\TBWA, where he worked on a One Show Golden Pencil Bronze-winning spot for Apple called “The Hunt.”

Silveira held the same role at Zulu Alpha Kilo and, prior to joining Zulu in 2019, was a senior copywriter at FCB, where he earned Marketing Award Gold in 2020 for a print-led campaign, “Get that Lotto 649 Feeling.”

He started his career as a copywriter for MDC Partners agency Crispin Porter + Bogusky.

Lee’s work, meanwhile, has been recognized and featured by Cannes, One Show, ADCC, strategy and others.

Prior to joining TBWA\Media Arts Lab, he worked at Zulu Alpha Kilo from for two years.

While there, he worked on and oversaw teams on national campaigns for Tim Hortons and Subaru.

Before Zulu, Lee was at Leo Burnett where he produced award-winning global campaigns for Amazon and North American campaigns for P&G.

Courage adds an ECD

Raul Garcia has joined Courage as an ECD, as of September. Garcia is formerly SVP and ECD with Angry Butterfly. His “Bill it to Bezos” work for Jane/Finch Community Centre earned Cannes Lion hardware in the social and influencer category in in 2023.

He has also served as an instructor at Miami Ad School for nearly four years and for approximately the same period as an ECD at Momentum Worldwide.

Garcia has over 23 years of experience working for agencies in Toronto, Vancouver, New York City, San Francisco and Los Angeles.

Leo Burnett hires a new group CD

Ryan Kukec is Leo Burnett’s new group creative director, as of September. Kukec, formerly an associate creative director of No Fixed Address and Zulu Alpha Kilo, also spent nearly four years as an associate creative director at Cossette.

He has worked on brand campaigns for the likes of SickKids Vs., No Frills, A2 Milk and Boston Pizza.

He began his career as an intern at Grip.

Lululemon names a new global PR manager

Spencer Harvey is starting a new position as global PR manager at Lululemon in Toronto. In this role, Harvey will support storytelling around the company’s global sports marketing and partnership programs, including Team Canada, its global ambassadors and other brand partnerships.

Harvey was previously a senior communications manager for LGBTQ advocacy group GLAAD, in New York City, before joining TikTok as its communications manager, global partnerships (B2B), in spring 2022.

MLSE promotes within its esports arena

Nick Dotto is stepping into a new role at MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment) as its esports marketing and partnerships manager.

Before joining MLSE as a creative marketing and content strategist in spring 2022, Dotto was art director for Toronto social agency Viral Nation. He was also creative director for Eleven Gaming, a brand founded by Edmonton Oiler Zach Hyman.
