Digital marketing shop Candybox has added industry veteran Craig Markou as an executive creative director.
Candybox, which has offices in the GTA and Halifax, boasts a client roster of approximately 100, including BeaverTails, Church & Dwight, Delta Bingo and Gaming, and Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa, and has 45 full-time employees.
“As one of Canada’s fastest-growing companies, we’re excited for [Markou] to bring his innovative leadership style to our expanding creative team,” says Darrell Keezer, Candybox’s CEO and founder.
Markou will be joining Candybox’s Oakville location.
He was recently executive creative director of brand and communications agency, FKA, which has Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto offices. There, he worked on accounts including Canadian Western Bank, Papa Johns, and The Brick.
In just over a year with the shop, Markou garnered the agency’s first national recognition with a CMA and an Applied Arts Design Award for its “Call For No Entries” campaign lampooning the ACE Awards.
Previous to FKA, Markou worked full-time and freelance at DDB, Ogilvy, Rethink, Taxi, VML and Zulu Alpha Kilo on global brands including Budweiser, Ford, Gatorade, Kit Kat, Nike and Walmart.
His work has been recognized at Cannes Lions, Clios, Communication Arts, D&AD, The One Show and Effies.
Broken Heart Love Affair adds a CD
Skye Deluz is BHLA’s new creative director and creative partner to Shannon McCarroll.
Deluz comes from Rethink with award-winning experience on brands such as IKEA, Nestle, Scotiabank, YWCA, WestJet, Molson, and Kraft Heinz, having recently won a Gold Lion at Cannes for her work on Heinz “Ketchup Fraud.”
She was also recently an instructor at Miami Ad School. Deluz joins as creative partner to ACD, Shannon McCarroll, to work on several clients across the agency including Project 8, Kruger and Destination Ontario.
“Her talent is outstanding and she’s an interesting and funny person, which is always amazing to have around. We can’t wait to see what comes from the minds of this phenomenal duo,” says Denise Rossetto, BHLA’s executive creative director.
This past summer, the agency announced the addition of CD duo Michael Morelli and Marty Hoefkes along with Dave Watson as head of design.
