Swiss Chalet touts its quality ingredients in latest retail foray

Swiss Chalet’s frozen nuggets and strips are the family dining chain’s latest retail offering, with promotion at POS emphasizing the quality of the ingredients.

The Recipe Unlimited company’s retail move builds upon pre-existing chicken pot pie, chicken noodle soup, ribs, and various sauces and marinades in stores.

When the product launched, Franco Tascione, Recipe Unlimited’s COO, said the nuggets and strips “are made with real ingredients,” adding that they are “exactly what Canadians expect from a brand they have trusted for decades.”

POS assets include danglers, blades and clings, each with a prominent “new” callout and “try now” calls to action. The cling emphasizes the new offering’s “real ingredients” and “real Chalet taste.”

With the nuggets and strips, Swiss Chalet will be in Metro, Sobeys, Foodland and Calgary Co-op stores for the first time.

“Working closely with Genuine Retail Media and LPi Group, we want to drive product notoriety and consideration, and encourage trial amongst Canadians,” says Beatrice Robertson, senior director of marketing for Recipe Unlimited.

The brand is deploying in-store activations like signage and demos in hopes that samples will convert passersby into fans.

The company is also promising to connect with consumers through a targeted digital marketing strategy, ensuring Swiss Chalet lovers and shoppers are aware of its new retail products.

As with its other retail rollouts, the restaurant is hoping to appeal to a broader base of customers, including families that might not have the chance to regularly dine at its restaurants.

Swiss Chalet is not the only Recipe Unlimited brand to expand its retail footprint lately. Earlier this year, The Keg brought one of its signature desserts and its Caesar cocktail to store shelves. Montana’s also offers a range of grocery products, including meat pies, ribs, sauces and marinades.
