Canadian lifestyle brand Roots has appointed former Unilever executive Leslie Golts as its new chief marketing officer.
Stepping into the role with more than 15 years of experience working in marketing and communications, Golts (pictured right) joins Roots after previously working as general manager and head of marketing for Unilever Canada’s Beauty and Wellness Business Unit, where she helped drive profitable growth for the company in hair, skincare, vitamins and enhanced hydration.
Prior to working at Unilever, Golts also helped to develop and execute global campaigns for Dove, and worked in management positions for L’Oréal Canada, including product manager roles for such brands as Maybelline New York and Essie.
In a news release announcing her appointment on Friday, Nov. 17, Golts said she’s excited to work with the Roots team on creating marketing strategies for a diverse audience.
“Leslie brings a wealth of experience and proven success in building iconic brands to Roots,” the company’s president and CEO Meghan Roach said in the release. “She is a talented leader that will play a critical role in advancing the company’s marketing initiatives and reinforcing its position in the market.”
“I grew up with this iconic Canadian brand, its emblem evokes many memories for myself and many others. I am looking forward to building upon its enduring legacy for an even brighter future alongside the brilliant team,” Golts said in a post to LinkedIn announcing her new role.
