Longtime Campbell’s marketing vet Mieka Burns is Tim Hortons’ new vice president of consumer packaged goods.
In a LinkedIn post, Tim Hortons Canada and U.S. president Axel Schwan says the QSR’s CPG business – which includes an expanded ice cream portfolio in addition to its soups, coffees and creamers – is “experiencing awesome growth.”
Schwan called Burns, “a highly respected and experienced leader with a stellar track record for leading the growth of some of the biggest food and beverage brands available on grocery store shelves.”
He said that Burns’ addition to Tim Hortons’ CPG team “will be a key ingredient in our recipe to bring more Tims at Home products to even more fans.”
Burns most recently worked as VP meals and sauces for Campbell’s, based out of Camden New Jersey, tasked in part with growing Campbell’s Prego sauce.
Prior to moving stateside, Burns was Campbell’s VP of marketing for Canada, a position she assumed in July of 2019.
In her senior marketing appointments at Campbell’s in Canada, Burns helped the brand boost investment in soup through a masterclasses program, oversaw a “raise your own tomatoes” shopper marketing seeds giveaway program, and sought to revitalize the Chunky brand through different campaign activations.
Burns was also a senior marketing manager at Kraft Heinz for more than two years, handling premium coffee and cold beverage accounts.
The Schulich MBA grad began her career as an advertising manager for GM Canada.
Tim Hortons, meanwhile, recently rolled out a largescale retail marketing campaign promotion for its new line of coffee creamers, through Empire, Loblaw and Ontario Metro banners, as well as Walmart and Co-Op stores.
