Leo Burnett Toronto is capping off the year with the news that it’s been tapped as the AOR for Starbucks Canada.
The Starbucks appointment follows up other major account wins this year for Leo Burnett Toronto with Pizza Hut, TD Bank U.S., President’s Choice, the Canadian Pension Plan Investment Board and Sun Life.
Leo Burnett will begin working with Starbucks on Jan. 1.
Stephan Argent’s Listenmore consultancy managed the pitch process for the AOR role. Starbucks also works with Publicis Groupe sister companies across media with Spark Foundry, as well as MSL for influencer marketing. Starbucks Canada will now also work with Leo Burnett’s Montreal office, Martel et compagnie, in the Quebec market. Edelman Canada and Media Profile are Starbucks’ PR agencies of record.
“We were impressed with the thinking and approach from the Leo team, showcasing a strong understanding of the essence of our brand,” says Deborah Neff, VP of product and marketing for Starbucks Canada. “There was a strong connection between our teams.”
Leo Burnett Toronto chief strategy officer Tahir Ahmad added: “What we discovered during the pitch was how much passion and love there is for this brand and how there is a huge opportunity here for Starbucks to play an even bigger role in people’s lives.”
