Marketers on the Move: Canada Goose CMO Penny Brook leaves company

Canada Goose CMO Penny Brook leaves company

Penny Brook is leaving her position as chief marketing officer with Canada Goose.

According to the news release announcing her departure, Brook’s role came to an end on Dec. 31. President Carrie Baker will continue to oversee global marketing.

In her tenure with the outerwear luxury lifestyle apparel company, which began in 2013, Brook helped bring Canada Goose’s CSR efforts under one unified brand platform. She also recently helped spearhead visual retail theatre efforts, incorporating sustainable materials, creating a December winter wonderland crafted from 100% recyclable foam and 100% biodegradable artificial snow.

Brook also oversaw a series of sustainability-focused marketing campaigns, most recently one focused on three Canada Goose “muses,” and featuring the work of famed photographer Annie Leibovitz.

“My proudest work was defining our foundational brand DNA where we set the vision to inspire the world to Live in the Open both physically and emotionally,” Brook said on LinkedIn. “Our purpose platform is some of our industry-leading work – by living our purpose to keep the planet cold and people warm, we set a new bar for our kindest product and reinforced our commitment to the Arctic North of Canada and beyond.”

The brand’s connection to the outdoors has included docuseries, while also celebrating and supporting Inuit craftspeople.

Other Canada Goose campaigns included finding inspiration in artists’ stories, and in 2022, a self-expression positioning around a limited collection designed by footwear designer Salehe Bembury, part of an ongoing partnership with the NBA.

Brook is a former head of marketing communications for Philips Consumer Lifestyle, managing the communications planning for Philips’ Coffee business. She also previously led marketing efforts for UK-based footwear brand DuoBoots.
