Marketers on the Move: Sally Tindal assumes ROM’s top marketer role

ROM names Sally Tindal its lead marketer

Sally Tindal is the Royal Ontario Museum’s (ROM) new chief marketing and communications officer.

Tindal assumed the role of interim chief marketing and communications officer for the ROM in early 2023. She replaced BBDO/Leo Burnett vet Lori Davison, who held the post from August 2020 to March 2023 before moving back agency side to become chief strategy officer with Diamond.

The role leads a wide group of museum teams including marketing, communications, visitor experience, membership, audience insights, social media, promotions, French-language services and publishing.

Previously, Tindal was the ROM’s vice president of communications and publishing. Prior to joining the museum in 2017, she held several senior leadership positions in the cultural and entertainment sectors, including a two-decade stint at Corus Entertainment, most recently as the organization’s vice president of corporate communications.

In 2022, the ROM unveiled a new brand platform to attract a new generation of Canadians to the museum as COVID-19 pandemic restrictions eased. The museum has incorporated artwork sourced by kids as well as AR as part of its ongoing marketing efforts.

Rona makes a senior marketing promotion

Catherine Laporte is starting a new position as senior vice president, marketing customer experience at Rona.

Laporte is formerly the home improvement retailer’s vice president of marketing, assuming the role in 2019.

Prior to joining Rona as division vice president of ecommerce in 2018, she was vice president of marketing and ecommerce for DavidsTea, reporting directly to the CEO and working as a member of the executive leadership team, responsible to lead and manage a team of more than 40 marketers and digital experts.
