Laurent Abesdris takes on ECD role at Zerotrillion
Zerotrillion has appointed Laurent Abesdris as executive creative director for its Toronto office.
Abesdris is a highly awarded creative leader who brings a wealth of experience in entrepreneurship, agency leadership and creative direction.
The hiring comes as Zerotrillion’s Toronto office has secured projects with new high-profile accounts including Turo, a remit won in early 2024, and Destination Canada.
Prior to joining Zerotrillion, his distinguished career has been marked by his tenure at Toronto creative agencies including JWT, Sid Lee, Cossette and TBWA. Most recently, Abesdris held a half-decade tenure helping lead Juliet Creative through its initial growth phase as partner and creative director.
His creative talent and strategic insight have driven campaigns for a roster of clients including Sobeys, the Canadian Cancer Society and Tim Hortons.
“This moment marks the next chapter of our business in Canada,” says Aubrey Podolsky, managing director of the Toronto office and global chief strategy officer for Zerotrillion, which also has offices in New York and Amsterdam. “We’ve been painfully selective in this multi-year search so we’re honestly relieved, exhausted and excited in equal measure.”
Passing of the torch at Langton
Daniel Pillai is assuming the roles of president and CEO at Langton, taking over from eponymous founder Donnalee Langton.
Pillai’s Langton career started in 2017 as digital media manager, and he quickly ascended to VP in 2019. Since joining the team, he has brought his expertise and extensive industry connections to enrich the agency’s social and digital marketing capabilities, diversifying the clientele to include industries such as health care, hospitality, immigration, education, fashion, entertainment, beauty and tech startups.
As a member of the BIPOC and LGBTQ2S+ communities, Pillai is dedicated to nurturing an empowered environment for the team and its clients, one that is diverse and inclusive.
Langton’s former CEO is taking on the title of founder and remaining involved in a consultancy capacity.
“The journey of nurturing Langton from a start-up to a respected, established, successful business has been an incredibly satisfying and rewarding experience,” Langton says. “As I pass the torch to [Pillai], a trailblazer in his own right, I am confident that the agency will continue to thrive.”
To commemorate this leadership transition, Langton is also embracing change with a total rebrand, unveiling a new logo and transitioning from Langton PR to simply Langton.
Recently, Langton was named Evio Beauty’s new public relations agency of record, responsible for media and influencer relations and event planning for the clean beauty brand.
