Top law firm hires Fatima Israel as chief growth and marketing officer
Former EY Canada CMO, Fatima Israel, has been named Gowling WLG Canada’s first chief growth and marketing Officer.
Israel will lead the law firm’s marketing and business development teams to implement strategies that are designed to drive business growth, strengthen its brand and captivate the interest of the firm’s clients across markets.
While serving as the chief marketing officer at EY Canada, Israel led a large national team in reimagining the firm’s go-to-market strategy, enhancing client experiences and driving market-influenced revenue growth. Prior to her tenure at EY, she held progressively senior marketing leadership roles at Telus for more than a decade.
“Ambitious, creative and people-focused, Fatima has both the experience and vision to help us ignite our brand and refine the way we engage with our clients and communities,” says Steve McKersie, Gowling WLG Canada CEO. “As we pursue aggressive growth, elevate our sales culture and strengthen personal engagements, [she] will be a vital member of our team.”
Jersey Mike’s Subs adds KFC senior marketer
KFC veteran Stephen Scarrow (pictured above, right), has been named the senior marketing manager for Jersey Mike’s.
Scarrow will be responsible for leading Jersey Mike’s marketing portfolio, ensuring that sales, customer counts and operating profits for both corporate and franchise restaurants meet or exceed established targets. He will also lead national, regional and local marketing initiatives.
A nearly 13-year veteran of Yum! brands’ KFC Canada, Scarrow most recently held a senior marketing manager role for that company. At KFC Canada, he led all brand marketing initiatives, managing a team of three, handling strategic brand planning and executing 360 campaigns across key menu segments. Scarrow managed a $30 million budget and partnered closely with internal and external stakeholders to build brand health and drive sales.
Jersey Mike’s parent company Redberry operates approximately 180 Burger King and Taco Bell locations in Canada. Redberry announced a multi-year development deal with Taco Bell Canada in 2021 to develop more of its restaurants across the country.
To support accelerated growth in Canada, where the brand currently operates two Southwestern Ontario locations, Redberry also named Paul Pascal (pictured above, left), director of operations as it looks to add hundreds of locations in the next decade. Prior to joining Redberry, Pascal led a successful brand review and implemented a hospitality-focused business model for Aegis Brands – Bridgehead Coffee Company and Second Cup Coffee. He also led the brand and operations team at Recipe Unlimited in transforming the East Side Mario’s brand into a successful business unit.
