Dawn Bednarski is the new chief marketing officer in Canada for Sun Life Financial.
The Sun Life move marks a return engagement for Bednarski, who was previously its director of digital optimization, a post she held from 2014 to 2017.
She most recently worked as head of marketing for RBC’s credit card portfolio, overseeing a team that delivers mass campaigns, always-on acquisition and engagement for all cards.
Before that two-year stint, Bednarski was head of marketing for the bank’s investment firm, RBC Ventures, leading a team of 55 marketers, supporting more than 15 ventures to deliver strategy, planning and execution of all marketing, including performance digital, SEO, email, brand, social, content and media.
Bednarski is a former 2022 Strategy Awards co-chair and live jury member.
She is taking over CMO duties from Chris Hewitt, who held the role for three years starting in March 2021, but is now Sun Life’s head of global brand, digital marketing and marketing technology.
