That’s a wrap for the 2024 Cannes Lions shortlists, folks.
On Wednesday morning the festival released the final contenders – for the Sustainable Development Goals category – with FCB the only Canadian agency to appear on the list.
The Toronto shop was credited twice for the CDSS’ “Inployable” campaign, the first mention being in the Reduced Inequalities sub-category and the second sitting within Decent Work and Economic Growth. But that’s not all. The agency also landed a mention under Good Health and Well-being for Adidas’ “Runner 321.”
Today’s three nods brings Canada’s total shortlist tally to 166, short of the 202 nominations the country tracked in 2023 – but still ahead of the numbers in 2022 (89) and 2021 (141).
The Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) category was created in partnership with the United Nations back in 2018. The award, according to Cannes, “celebrates creative work that actively supports the progression of our Global Goals and uses the power of creativity for change,” with all of the category entry fees donated to charities that have previously won a Lion in Cannes.
Tonight, the Gold and Grand Prix winners in the Creative B2B, Creative Data, Direct, Media, PR, and the Social & Influencer categories will take to the stage. Sustainable Development Goals is set to be announced on Friday.
