Staples Canada expands its Kids Learn + Play concept

By Cole Watson

Staples Canada has expanded its Kids Learn + Play retail concept to 100 more of its storefronts country-wide, just in time for school holidays.

The business and back-to-school retailer initially launched Kids Learn + Play last year in just eight of its 300-plus locations. The in-store experience is built around play-based learning, letting kids explore and play with curated products from leading brands that foster their development.

Staples Kids Learn + Play zones will now be installed in 129 stores total by the end of August—marking the company’s largest single-year expansion in its 33-year history. Staples has seen a strong response from parents looking for more resources at brick-and-mortar stores to support their children’s education, says CEO Rachel Huckle.

The play zones feature products that help kids develop in four key areas: cognitive, fine motor, sensory and discovery & exploration. Key brands/products include Rubik’s Cubes, LEGO construction sets, Magna-Tiles, Kinetic Sand playsets and Crayola activity kits.
