Ada names a top marketer
Nancy Chen is joining Canadian AI startup Ada as head of brand.
Based out of New York City, Chen is the co-founder and former managing partner of Otto’s Food Group, which launched Toronto restaurant concepts like Otto’s Berlin Doner and Otto’s Bierhalle.
Previously, Chen was director of strategy with Montreal’s Wedge and worked on accounts such as Diana’s, Clamato and Matheson Food Company.
Chen has also been a senior strategist with Sid Lee, working on a client portfolio that included Molson, Netflix, Starbucks, Verizon (U.S.), Samsung (Global), PC Financial and Coca-Cola.
She was recently brand strategy consultant for NC Consulting.
Sunwing takes flight with new senior marketer
Alena Adel is starting a new position as senior brand and integrated marketing specialist at Sunwing.
Adel was recently assistant brand manager of digital marketing for Swiss Chalet, a Recipe Unlimited restaurant. Before joining the casual dining brand, she was marketing operations coordinator for pharma company Apotex.
United Way Maritimes names comms lead
Kate Butler is starting a new position as communications officer at United Way Maritimes, the organization that united seven separate regional United Way organizations into a single entity this summer.
Butler was recently director of communications and marketing for United Way of Central New Brunswick, where her responsibilities entailed adapting and leveraging national and local campaigns at the community level, initiating new practices, campaign themes and rollouts, and making connections to local communities and funded agencies.
Habitat for Humanity makes a promotion on its Kawartha-area marketing team
Holly McKinnon has been promoted to communications and marketing manager at Habitat for Humanity Peterborough and Kawartha Region. She joined the organization last year as a communications coordinator.
