Agency Moves: New hires at Hard Work Club and F&B

Hard Work Club names new group account director

Carlos Game Garcia (pictured above) is the newest addition to the Hard Work Club team, taking on the role of group account director, the same position he recently held for Broken Heart Love Affair (BHLA).

While at BHLA, Garcia worked on a client roster that included Simplii Financial, the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), Loblaw Market Division and GoRVing Canada.

He’s also held account director duties with Lifelong Crush, where he worked on brands such as Kids Help Phone and Kruger, and Bleublancrouge, where he handled brand work for Desjardins and Thompson Hotels.

Jackman makes five promotions

Lora LeClair has been promoted from associate creative director to become Jackman’s new creative director. Prior to joining Jackman in 2016, LeClair was senior designer with Grip and was with the Dentsu agency for more than six-and-a-half years.

Charlotte Sarvesvaran has been promoted to senior strategy consultant. She is a former management consultant with KPMG.

Luke Merrimen was also promoted to senior strategy consultant. He is a former consultant of business design with EY.

Jack Melkerson is now manager of business strategy with Jackman. He previously held the title of director of research and insights.

Poorani Ravikumar was promoted to senior manager of people development.

F&B adds an ACD

Apoorva Kale has been hired by Forsman & Bodenfors Canada as an associate creative director.

Kale was most recently senior copywriter with Grey Canada. Prior, Kale held the same role with McCann Health Canada. He also served as a writer with Taxi in Vancouver.

McMillan Vantage adds VP

National public affairs firm McMillan Vantage has added lobbyist Laura Kurkimaki to the firm as vice president.

She was recently principal at Earnscliffe Strategies. Previously, she was principal secretary to the Office of the Leader of the Official Opposition. Kurkimaki also served as senior public affairs advisor for Payments Canada.

This summer, McMillan Vantage supported creative by the CHEO Foundation to raise funds for the Ottawa children’s hospital’s multi-million-dollar pediatric facilities overhaul.

Apex brings on Weber Shandwick vet

Deane Code has joined Apex PR as vice president. She is most recently vice president at Weber Shandwick and the shop’s director of integrated media, handling CPG and pharma clients.

Code is a former director at Veritas, overseeing and managing media relations and blogger relations strategies, including execution.
