The Marketing Awards exists, in part, to provide the industry with a snapshot of a years-worth of creativity. It’s been doing this for the last 103 years, making it Canada’s longest-running advertising awards show. It returns for yet another year, opening up the program for entries while symultaneously revealing the creative honchos that will lead the juries in their decision-making, once they meet in the spring.
First up, Zulu Alpha Kilo CCO Brian Murray and McCann CCO Jordan Doucette will co-chair the Advertising jury. The Public Service jury will be led by Citizen Relations CCO Josh Budd and George Brown College creative director and professor Denise Cole.
The Digital jury will be headed by FCB CCO Nancy Crimi-Lamana and Critical Mass EVP and ECD Steve Savic, while the Multicultural jury will be co-chaired by Whitney Zhan, co-founder of DigitalLAB of UWe, and Jessica Borges, group vice president and business lead at Visionnaire.
Dave Watson, head of design for Broken Heart Love Affair, will co-chair the Design jury alongside Blok Design founder and creative director Vanessa Eckstein. And finally, the Craft jury will be co-chaired by Courage founder and CCO Dhaval Bhatt and Merchant director Yael Staav.
This year also comes with a slew of new categories: Real-time Reaction (in the Advertising section), which recognizes PR campaigns that hijack pop culture moments; Production Design (in Craft), celebratrating excellence in the art direction of things like set design and location; Product Design (in Design), which looks at the items created for a brand or business as part of an ongoing product line; as well as Online Video 30 secs and under and Online Video 15 secs and under (in Multicultural), for videos that were shot specifically for online distribution, including mobile.
In addition, all of the categories now include the opportunity to submit Self Promotion work (except for Advertising, which is already open to entries of that type of work).
Entries are currently being accepted for the 2025 Marketing Awards, with an early bird deadline ending Dec. 16. More information on categories, eligibility and entry guidelines can be found on the awards website.
