Church & State accommodates short attention spans

Church & State is wrapping up 2024 with a new innovation AND a holiday spot / card all in one: the .6 second ad. In the spot, a frustrated Santa tries to meet the time constraints.

Signifly boldly goes

Since 2015, digital agency Signifly – which has offices in Toronto, Montreal, London, Oslo and Copenhagen – has been transforming its annual holiday greetings into “imaginative spectacles reflecting both the company’s journey and broader global trends.”

This year’s theme is boldly venturing into space in astronaut suits. Coincidentally, this year’s card holds special significance for the Montreal team, who proudly secured MDA Space as a client earlier this year.

Every team member is featured through meticulous planning, photo sessions and extensive digital editing. This year, the pictures were taken during the annual global team trip, when teams from all offices reunited in Copenhagen.

Nicklas Ronning, managing partner at Signifly Canada, says this tradition is both enjoyable and instrumental in strengthening team unity. “This is one of the many initiatives we’ve developed to nurture incredible relationships across all our offices,” he says. “Even though we operate from different locations, we are one team. At Signifly, we’re together in everything we do.”

ZGM reveals answer to a burning question

For nearly 60 years, his steady hand has stoked the fire on screens across North America, yet little is known about the person who keeps the yule log crackling each holiday season. Until now.

Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver-based ZGM Modern Marketing Partners (ZGM) has tracked down the unsung holiday hero, who identifies as “Yül Stoker,” for its 2024 holiday card. In a series of video snippets, Stoker shares insights about his identity and little-known facts about his seasonal job.

ZGM’s creatives opted for a light-hearted concept for the agency’s annual holiday card, titled “The Arm Behind the Log.”

Kurt Beaudoin, ZGM’s director of storytelling, says the hope is to spark the same cozy, warm holiday feeling the yule log has brought for decades along with a laugh or two.
