Subway Canada has appointed Denny Downie (pictured) as head of marketing of Canada and Reza Kouhang as head of development for Canada.
Downie brings more than 15 years of restaurant and retail leadership experience to the role. He is mandated with expanding Subway Canada’s offerings while delivering innovative and engaging marketing initiatives, the brand says. Downie’s background includes leading marketing at Sporting Life and a successful tenure at Recipe Unlimited where he grew some of Canada’s largest restaurant brands.
Kouhang is “a seasoned QSR professional” who is tasked with driving key priorities, which include the brand’s expansion across Canada, with openings and renovations planned in the coming months. He has worked on several of Canada’s largest brands, including Yum! Brands, where he was most recently the chief financial and development officer, KFC Canada and Indigo Books and Music.
Subway Canada, a client of agency partner Dentsu and Veritas, has more than 2,900 restaurants across Canada.
Courtney Hindorf, managing director of Canada, said in a press release announcing the appointments that the pair will elevate the QSR’s offerings and attract the “next generation” of Subway customers.
“Subway Canada is in a transformational time and welcoming these two accomplished and passionate leaders to Subway Canada will be instrumental in driving our bold vision forward,” Hindorf says. “From elevating consumer communications to expanding our footprint across the nation, we are ready to take on the future.”
Lisa Mazurkewich was Subway Canada’s most recent top marketer, having held that role from 2022 until November 2024.
