ChangeMakers appoints Ron Smrczek as its executive creative director

Ron Smrczek is taking on an executive creative director position at marketing, reputation-management and social-impact consultancy ChangeMakers.

He joins ChangeMakers after holding executive creative director positions at The&Partnership, Zulu Alpha Kilo and Taxi Europe.

Smrczek has become known for a body of leadership work that spans diverse business categories with brands such as Sapporo, Viagra, Interac, Canadian Tire and Telus.

And he’s earned accolades from Cannes, Epica, ADCC, the Shopper Innovation Awards among others others throughout his career.

“[Smrczek’s] breadth of integrated experience on big brands and the creative leadership he has demonstrated internationally across so many business challenges will help us elevate our creative output throughout all our business lines,” says Alyssa Huggins, the president of marketing at ChangeMakers. “We are also excited by his collaborative style and advertising-agnostic thinking that he will bring to our clients.”

The Toronto native started his career as an art director in 1996 by joining Taxi. After a brief stint at Zig he returned to Taxi in an ACD capacity before being named creative director.

In September of 2008 he became executive creative director of Taxi New York.
