Popeyes Canada is updating its leadership team with Lisa Mazurkewich taking on the role of senior director of marketing and Brian Trier moving into the general manager position.
Mazurkewich brings senior marketing leadership experience from Subway, Starbucks and Bacardi and has a track record of leading major brand, digital and loyalty initiatives across Canada.
As Subway Canada’s top marketer, Mazurkewich oversaw campaigns that touted the QSR’s worldly credentials and leaned into Valentine’s Day and supported marketing for the brand’s rice bowls that featured Toronto Raptors players Scottie Barnes and Chris Boucher.
Mazurkewich was also at the helm for the chain’s menu overhaul which represented its largest-ever campaign spend back in spring 2023.
During her tenure, Mazurkewich launched the Subway MVP Loyalty program, led global-positioning development and set the tone of voice and athlete strategy for the brand.
Before joining Subway in 2022, she was the VP of marketing at cannabis brand Fire & Flower.
Trier brings to Popeyes more than two decades of restaurant operations and franchising experience from his time at Domino’s, where he led global innovation, operational support and international growth strategies as VP of global operations, innovation and support.
Based out of Michigan, Trier led a global team of 75 operations experts at Domino’s that were in charge of ensuring efficiency and consistency for store staff, franchisees and customers.
“Canada represents a tremendous growth opportunity for Popeyes,” said Jeff Klein, president of Popeyes Canada and U.S. “[Mazurkewich and Trier] bring outstanding expertise that will strengthen the Canadian leadership team and help accelerate our expansion across the country.”
A news release said Popeyes, a subsidiary of Restaurant Brands International, will continue its expansion in Canada.
According to the release, Mazurkewich and Trier will work together to grow the brand’s footprint, help more Canadians discover Popeyes and deepen community relationships across the country.
