Zulu Alpha Kilo took home Best of Show honours for its “Wäsche of the Wild” campaign at the inaugural West Coast Creative Awards on Thursday night at the Hollywood Theatre in Vancouver.
The West Coast Creative Society launched the awards, dubbed the Coasties, to carry on the tradition of the Lotus Awards, which were last handed out in 2015.
Produced by Zulu Alpha Kilo Vancouver for client Destination BC, “Wäsche of the Wild” also won gold for Best Use of Media and Experiential/Non-Permanent Installation. The campaign invited German travellers to visit the province through an immersive car-wash activation set up in Hamburg, Germany, that showcased British Columbia’s natural beauty.
One23West won Coasties in the Advertising Campaign More Than $100K category for the BC Securities Commission’s “We’re All F-cked” campaign, in the Experiential/Non-Permanent Installation category for Breast Cancer Canada’s “The Metastasizing Chair” campaign and collected the Most Effective Award for its “League of Mighty” creative for the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. “The Metastasizing Chair” also won the non-profit Creative for Good award.
Other gold winners on the evening included Rethink in Branding (identity system) for “Sleep Origin,” Boldy in Best Use of Video for its “Tim” campaign for Arc’teryx and Here Be Monsters in Social Media Advertising for “Phones Don’t Make Sense In School” for the government of B.C.
More than 325 people attended the Coasties to see 44 awards handed out in total.
