Sofia Costa announced as president of Harbinger

Sofia Costa has been appointed president of Harbinger after serving in the role of managing director at the Toronto communications agency since the spring of 2024.

As Harbinger president, Costa will continue to oversee all client work and relationships, business development, agency culture and the mentorship and development of the Harbinger team, according to a news release.

The Toronto-based agency supports clients in the food and beverage, agriculture, personal care and health sectors.

Costa has more than 20 years of agency experience in sectors including CPG, pharma and financial services and she has overseen programs for Henkel, Behr Paint Company, Dare Foods, Unilever, Halo Top, Johnson & Johnson, among others.

DonerNorth names director of strategy

Caroline Shaheed has joined communications agency DonerNorth as director of strategy.

Shaheed is a former fractional director of digital strategy at King Ursa, where she created and oversaw the execution of digital strategies for Zabiha Halal, strategy’s 2022 Brand of the Year. She also led influencer campaigns at King Ursa for brands such as Timberland and Villaggio bread.

Shaheed is also a longtime brand and communications consultant at her own eponymous consultancy service.

During her career, she has worked for clients including FedEx, the Toronto Flower Market, Dixie outlet mall and others.

Brand side, Shaheed formerly worked as a strategist and social-media lead at Indigo.

Sid Lee promotes a creative

Jake Hulsebosch has been named associate creative director at Sid Lee. Before starting in the new position this month, Hulsebosch held senior copywriter and copywriter positions at the shop.

Before his current 4 1/2 year stop at Sid Lee, Hulsebosch worked for two years at Rethink, where he started out as an intern before moving into a copywriter position.

He has worked on brand campaigns such as “Relief Catcher” for Miller Lite beer, “Grab Your Rocks” for Testicular Cancer Canada, “Quiet Quitting” for H&R Block and “Songs of Schizophrenia” for the B.C. Schizophrenia Society.
