Industry Moves: Sagard names marketing VP, Ad Standards unveils 2025 board

Ilana Keyes joins Sagard as VP of marketing communications

is starting a new role as VP of marketing communications at global alternative investment firm Sagard.

In the role, Keyes’s focus will be on leading strategic marketing initiatives, driving brand positioning and fostering growth for the firm with more than US$27 billion of assets under management, according to a LinkedIn post.

As director of strategic marketing in her former role at Canada Life, Keyes led the segregated funds strategic marketing team.

And prior to joining the insurer, Keyes worked at CIBC for a decade in roles including executive director of marketing communications for CIBC Private Wealth Management and CIBC Asset Management.

She also worked in a marketing management role for Invesco Trimark.

Serge Rancourt named Ad Standards board chair

Ad Standards has announced that No Fixed Address co-founder and CEO Serge Rancourt has taken on the role of board chair at the non-profit self-regulatory organization.

Rancourt takes over in the position from outgoing chair Bev Kirshenblatt, the executive director of corporate and regulatory affairs at CBC Radio-Canada.

Marina Seidl, senior legal counsel at Interac Corp., will join Rancourt on the Ad Standards board as vice-chair.

Newly appointed Ad Standards board members announced last week include: Trevor Grant (VP of sales and marketing at Moosehead Breweries), Thomas Lecordier (CEO at A2C), Kimberly Legg (director of P&G brand capability at Procter & Gamble), Carolyn D. Leu (associate director of advertising standards at CBC), Divya Deep Singh (head of personal care at Unilever) and Zeeshan Shams (country marketing head at Haleon).

 

MLSE bolsters its commercial marketing team

Mateo Molinaro is starting a new position as senior strategist of commercial marketing strategy at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE).

He moves into the position after serving as a strategist with MLSE’s Commercial Strategy & Creative Group in-house agency.

Prior, Molinaro managed Team Toyota athlete programs and partnerships with Canada Soccer and Canada Basketball as a consultant for brand-side sponsorship consultancy Lumency.

In the role, he led the strategy and management of rights across Toyota’s integrated marketing programs, digital campaigns, in-market activations and community initiatives and provided counsel to Canadian Tire’s sports partnerships team.

During his career, Molinaro has assisted on brand work for companies including Anheuser-Busch InBev, Apple, Danone, Grupo Modelo, Labatt, PepsiCo, TELUS, Toyota.
