Agency Moves: Thinkingbox names GCD, Viral Nation and Publicis make hires

Thinkingbox announces group creative director

Kevin Mak is starting a new position as group creative director at Thinkingbox in Vancouver.

Mak moves into the new role having served as the shop’s creative director from November 2017 up until this month. He joined Thinkingbox in 2013 as a senior designer and also held art director and design director positions at the agency.

His work includes contributions to the “Barbie Streamhouse” activation in New York City, “The Shrine Room” campaign for e-commerce retailer Rebel and promotional work for the film Scream 6 and oat beverage brand Chobani.

Viral Nation names a group CD

CJ Bosco is starting a new position as group creative director at Viral Nation.

Bosco has also held creative director and associate creative director roles at Viral Nation since joining the agency in 2022 after a stint as senior copywriter at Media One.

His prior experiences include an associate creative director role with The Taylor Group and copywriter and creative copywriter roles with Wunderman.

Bosco has supported brand work for the likes of Meta, Audible, Porsche, Tums and Xbox.

 

New hires at Publicis Toronto

Publicis Toronto is upstaffing.

Tyler Copoc is starting on as a copywriter and associate creative director and brings experience from stops at Dentsu, Zulu Alpha Kilo, Rethink and McCann. He has contributed work for brands including Drumsticks, Subway, RBC Insurance and WestJet.

Joining him at Publicis is Dan Ong (top left) in an art director role. Ong has experience working at Student Price Card (graphic designer) and Canadian Tire (digital production designer). Prior to Publicis, Ong worked in production designer and art director positions at Broken Heart Love Affair from March 2022 until this June.

He will partner now be partnered with copywriter Patrick Gravel at Publicis.

Ong’s brand campaign contributions include Atomic Award-winning print/OOH work for Lactalis (Cheestrings), Scotties, Ultralux and Scarborough Health Network Foundation.

Rounding out the group of new hires is Pedro Minari Felippe (bottom left), a Brazilian-born senior art director who moves over to Publicis from Ogilvy Canada. He has experience working on global campaigns for Dove, Vaseline, Coca-Cola and Adidas.

Earlier this summer, Publicis hired Listya Nindita (top right) and Austin Blair Parkin (bottom middle) as associate creative directors.
