The Specialist, Marketing Communications is responsible for supporting, coordinating and implementing the OMA’s marketing communications strategy.

Major tasks include working with director and other staff to implement communications strategy, including; liaising with agencies to execute all plans and tactics under the external communication strategy; project management; developing an array of communications for internal and external audiences; budget tracking, basic graphic design, and copy writing.

RESPONSBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Support the implementation of the OMA’s marketing communications strategy that is guided by the strategic objectives of the organization and the physicians in Ontario;

• Collaborate with other departments to assist the director in leading the development and implementation of external marketing communications plans (i.e. Doctors’ Day celebration, health promotion/patient education campaigns);

• Support the development of the Ontario’s Doctors brand, including overseeing and managing brand standards, identifying storytelling and annual planning;

• Coordinate the project management of major external advertising campaigns, including; story and content mining; budget and reconciliation with agency estimates; ensure all digital platforms are appropriately leveraged to meet campaign objectives; liaise with agencies on media buy strategy; and develop communications materials for all campaign audiences

• Assist in the development of communications materials including social and digital copy, media materials, strategy and plans

• Conceptualize and develop print and digital creative assets using latest Adobe Creative Suite software;

• Manage ongoing and appropriate tracking and measurement of public opinion and campaigns, including incorporating appropriate information in OMA dashboard;

• Assist in preparation for Member Communication and Public Affairs Advisory Committee work including creating presentations and memos;

• Assist with tasks and specialty projects as required.

Education: Bachelor’s degree, advanced diploma or equivalent in marketing, communications or public relations.

Experience: Minimum five (5) years of related experience in marketing communications, corporate communications, and/or public affairs. Experience with associations, membership marketing and Ontario’s health care system is an asset.

Other: Solid background in the coordination of formal and informational marketing and communication campaigns based on strategic and operational plans. Knowledge of public affairs, advertising and market research tactics. Strong ability to multi-task on several projects with competing timelines. Knowledge and experience with copywriting is essential. Experience in graphic design is essential as-well as proficiency in web-authoring computer applications. Basic competency in Adobe Creative Suite is essential.
