Gretzky to promote AC’s Dream Days

Air Canada and the California Office of Tourism have made Wayne Gretzky the official spokesman for their eighth annual California Dream Days.

The airline and the tourism office are using hockey’s Great One to promote Dream Days, a discount travel program comprising air fares, car rentals, accommodation, sightseeing and tourist attractions.

Brock Stewart, a spokesman for Air Canada, says the promotion will be advertising, but adds he is unfamiliar with the details.

Dream Days last from Nov. 1 to Feb. 28 next year.

Included in the promotion are ‘Breakaway Fares,’ offering up to 65% off economy fares to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

‘Double Deal’ fares are available when two people travel together, but must be bought before Oct. 31.

As well, anyone who travels during Dream Days will have the chance to win one of six factions in a ‘Breakaway to California’ contest.

Winners get return air travel to the Golden State, accommodation for five nights, free car rental, admission to a Los Angeles Kings hockey game, and a chance to meet their best-known player – Gretzky.

Paul Brotto, vice-president of passenger marketing at Air Canada, says Gretzky was chosen because he personalizes the strong links that have developed over the years between Canada and California. DC
