david Bloom, chairman and chief executive officer of the Shoppers Drug Mart drug store chain, has been given the CEO Award of Excellence by the Toronto chapter of the Canadian Public Relations Society.

The award was first presented last year as a means of recognizing personal excellence by a chief executive in understanding and fostering the implementation of public relations practices.

The inaugural winner was Peter Ellis of Sunnybrook Health Centre.

The Oct. 19 issue of Strategy will explore Bloom’s thoughts on public relations and marketing in a special one-on-one interview.
