For the third consecutive year, I.D.A. Drugstores will take its Drug Education Program to 10 high schools and elementary schools across Ontario.
I.D.A. is comprised of 200-plus independently owned and operated pharmacies.
Under the theme ‘Believe in Yourself, Be Drug Free,’ the program is designed to inform students, teachers and parents about the physical and psychological consequences resulting from alcohol and other drug abuse.
– ParticipACTION has launched a new psa campaign encouraging Canadians to stay healthy by integrating physical activity into their daily life.
‘Moving Your Way – Every Day’ features ads encouraging such activities as walking the dog, walking to the grocery store and sledding.
The multimedia campaign, scheduled to run to the end of 1993, includes spots on tv and radio and ads in magazines, newspapers and employee publications.
Cormana, a Toronto firm specializing in managing annual meetings and developing corporate videos, produced the print and tv executions.
Pirate Radio, of Toronto, produced the radio spots.
Copy and art direction were handled by Toronto freelancers Bridgette Ryan and Greg McAvoy, respectively.
– Tele-Direct, publisher of the White Pages and Yellow Pages, has moved its Ontario regional sales and marketing office to 325 Milner Ave. in Scarborough.
Tele-Direct’s previous address was 55 Town Centre Court in Scarborough.
– Coles Book Stores and Woodward’s have reached an agreement on the sale of Woodward’s bookstore operations in b.c. and Alberta to Coles.
The agreement involves 11 freestanding bookstores located in major shopping malls.
Coles says it will operate the stores under its Coles or The Book Company names.
Coles, a subsidiary of Southam, is Canada’s leading bookstore retailer. It has about 250 outlets, operating under the Coles, Active Minds, The Book Company, Prospero Books, Entitlement and World’s Biggest Bookstore names.
– Ste. Anne’s Inn, a country inn located in Grafton, Ont., has teamed up with VIA Rail Canada to offer female executives a stress-releasing get-away in the country.
The one-day package, dubbed the ‘Stress Express,’ includes return train transportation from Toronto, meals, beauty treatments and use of the inn’s sports facilities.
The cost is $95 plus taxes.
Departure times from Union Station are 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. The train arrives in Cobourg, Ont. at 9:05 a.m. and 12:05 p.m., respectively.
Return trains leave Cobourg at 2:20 p.m. and 6:40 p.m. and arrive in Toronto at 3:50 p.m. and 8:00 p.m.
For the past year, Ste. Anne’s Inn, which has only 10 rooms but is located on 560 acres of property overlooking Lake Ontario, has also offered a weekend get-away package, ‘Spa Weekend.’
